My grant award record is so far one of my weak points. Perhaps keeping a list will motivate me to apply for more grants. ☺
I am the co-PI, with Arne Elofsson of Stockholm University of a bilateral grant, funding collaboration between researchers in Japan and Sweden. The official name is Strategic International Cooperative Program, multidisciplinary-bio. It is funded on the Japanese side by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST,科学技術振興機構) and by Vinnova on the Swedish side. Our proposal was one of 6 selected from 48 proposals. Each side is funded for roughly 25 million Yen over three years starting in September 2009. The title of our research proposal is "Elucidating the import, membrane integration, architecture and interactions of mitochondrial β-barrel outer membrane proteins" or "ミトコンドリアβバレル型外膜蛋白質の輸送と 膜組み込み機構及び蛋白質相互作用の解明".
I was the PI of a "kakenhi kibanB" (科研費基盤B) grant from the Japanese Ministry of Science (grant no. 19310128). I like this grant, because they let you use LaTeX to write your application! I was the principle investigator of this grant for a total of about 20 million Yen (over the 3 years FY2007-2009). In the year I applied, approximately 22% of the submitted proposals were granted. The title of the grant is "遺伝子発現の周辺分布モデル構築", or "Constructing a probabilistic model of the marginal distribution of gene expression". This grant is now finished. It resulted in two conference papers:
And the RECOUNT software tool for reducing false tags resulting from sequencer error.
The final grant report (in Japanese) can be found here.
